IEEE Wireless communications and networking conference (WCNC) is one of the prestigious conferences in the area of wireless communications. WCNC 2018 will be in beautiful Barcelona and I am hosting a workshop on IoT-Health together with Dr. Sayrafian, Dr. Katzis and Dr. Ambroziak.
Prof. Linda Doyle, Dr. Irene Macaluso and I are organizing a workshop on “Economics of wireless network virtualization”at IEEE PIMRC 2017 in Montreal. It is going to be an exciting event in a beautiful city. Moreover, Prof. Ekram Hossain, University of Manitoba, who is one of the pioneers in this field will deliver a keynote speech at the workshop.

I am attending 4th IRACON management committee meeting and workshop in Lund. There are a number of interesting presentation and enthusiastic authors. In our action we have people from all over Europe and we also have attendees from Japan and USA.
In this meeting network layer working group (WG3) had two full sessions and one joint session with IoT experimental group. You can find more information about this event here.
Since last week I became a member of Editorial board in Springer Wireless Networks. It is a decent journal that I have been reviewing for them for more than 3 years. I am happy that my expertise and punctuality have been appreciated by the Editor in Chief and other senior editors. I will certainly continue the good work in my new role.
Last Friday Prof. Jianwei Huang had a very interesting talk in TCD school of computer science on communications networks economics. Before the talk we had a nice discussion about virtual mobile networks economics. After the talk Prof. Doug Leith invited us for lunch.
“Defining and Surveying Wireless Link and Network Virtualization” is the title of our new paper that has been accepted in IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. Jonathan van de Belt has spent lot of efforts and time preparing this interesting and important paper. This topic was a really challenging but Jonathan, like always, perfectly completed this work. I also have to thank Prof. Linda Doyle for her guidance, insights and support.
You can see and download this paper from here.
A very nice thing happened today. I was working in my office and someone knocked my door. I asked him/her to come in as usual. While I was expecting a student I saw a colleague from economics department Dr. Ivan Pastine. It was a long time that I have not met him. Actually last year around this time I had a meeting/chat with him about the application of game theory in wireless engineering. Today, he came to me with his new book, Game theory a graphic guide, and a note (he did not expect me to be in my office). Seeing this made me really proud. We had a nice chat again and planned for collaborations in near future. Also thanks for the free book Ivan! 😉
It is a nice book explaining game theory with simple language. You can buy it online if interested.
On April 25 I attended SFI-EPSRC research fund opening. It was a great event where SFI president Mark Ferguson, Minister Halligan and UK ambassador in Ireland were present.
This programme is a very interesting one which will be led by UK-based researchers funded by EPSRC with Ireland-based researchers funded by SFI. Please see here for more detail.
